Dr. Ruijuan Xu and Dr. Yin Liu from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at NC State served as the faculty mentors for the MSE High School Summer Day Camp, which is part of the Imagine Engineering Camps sponsored by The Engineering Place. Working with The Engineering Place, they designed fun, engaging, and hands-on challenge projects for high school students to solve a real world problem related to the discipline of materials science. As part of the camp experience, these students also had opportunities to tour the AIF and research labs in the Department of MSE, where they gained a basic understanding of materials science research.
The AIF participates in many outreach and engagement activities every year. We know that these events showcase the advanced instruments available in our facility, allowing high school students to see real-world applications of engineering principles and technologies.

Fun Contest
These students competed in a friendly competition to see who could put on a cleanroom bunny suit the fastest. Fun fact: these suits are called bunny suits because it makes people look like oversized rabbits.
